RUSSO-MARKOVOS? We haven't been able to find any particular label to distinguish these dogs from our other SSSDs, primarily because there is little reason to make such a distinction. They are all Seppala Siberian Sleddogs, all bred within the original Breeding Guidelines that were submitted to Agriculture Canada in 1997 as part of the W. C. A. C. Articles of Incorporation. Those guidelines specified the McFaul/Shearer Seppala strain as the primary genetic source for SSSD stock, and the Solovyev Siberia Import stock as the secondary genetic source. The Seppalas shown on this page represent our initial steps towards the integration of the two sources in a single Seppala Siberian Sleddog breed. Two are Spanish imports from the breeding programme of our colleage Ramón Rojas in Catalunya, who had dogs from Sergei Solovyev and from us. The other five are sons of our Russian import stud dog Shakal iz Solovyev.

THESE SEVEN SLEDDOGS are not all of our Siberia import derived stock! There are some more on the "Integration Stock" page and the "Puppies" page. The group above show the immediate progeny of our import sire SHAKAL IZ SOLOVYEV, Shakal himself, and our two Spanish Solovyev/Seppala sires. The integration of the Siberia import lineage with the historic Markovo rootstock now represents the main thrust of Seppala Kennels' breeding programme. As such, integration stock now represents the majority of the kennel population; a continuing concern, nevertheless, is the preservation of the original McFaul/Shearer bloodlines (our "Markovo Seppalas").
