THE INTEGRATION of the Markovo-Seppala
bloodline with the new Siberia import stock from Sergei Solovyev is progressing
very nicely indeed. On this page we offer an overview of the "integration" stock.
None of these are F1 crosses; virtually all represent the F2 generation from the
standpoint of Agriculture Canada, although they are in reality various combinations
and proportions of the two bloodlines.
Looking at the "integration stock" as a whole it should be evident that there is a
fair degree of genetic diversity here. We see this as quite a positive thing. Although
the world of CKC and AKC promotes showdogs with a "cookie-cutter" similarity
achieved through relentless inbreeding, it is a sterile phenomenon that spells the
ultimate doom of the breeds that espouse it, through genetic depauperisation.
In the end those breeds will fail through inbreeding depression and the lack of
healthy genetic diversity.
